Acne vulgaris is a prevalent dermatological condition affecting millions worldwide, causing significant physical and emotional distress. Nanotechnology has emerged as a promising approach in the treatment and management of acne, offering improved drug delivery, enhanced efficacy, and reduced side effects. This review aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the application of nanotechnology in acne treatment, focusing on pathophysiology, clinical presentation, and management strategies. A detailed examination of various nanoparticle types utilized in anti-acne treatment, including liposomes, niosomes, solid lipid nanoparticles, and metal-based nanoparticles. The benefits and challenges of using nanotechnology in acne treatment are also explored, including concerns about toxicity and safety. Additionally, the regulatory framework surrounding nanotechnology in the European Union. This review highlights the potential of nanotechnology to revolutionize acne treatment and management, providing a promising avenue for future research and development.
